Gaumont brings Paul McCartney’s High in the Clouds to the big screen
Gaumont is launching pre sales at the upcoming AFM market where a sizzle reel including some music demos from Paul McCartney will be revealed.
After captivating generations and sparking a musical revolution, Paul McCartney brings us a timeless 3D animated film, about the power of family and freedom of expression through music, set in a world of animals. The former Beatle is the writer and composer of the original soundtrack and is also one of the movie’s producers for this animated film. The movie is a loose adaptation from the children’s adventure book by Paul McCartney, Geoff Dunbar and Phlip Ardagh, High in The Clouds.
After he accidentally sparked a revolution against Gretsch, the bossy diva-owl who has banned all music from his town, a teenage squirrel named Wirral embarks on an extraordinary journey to set music free.
The adaptation of this irresistible adventure is directed by Toby Genkel (The Amazing Maurice) from a screenplay by Jon Croker (Paddington 2, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse - Academy Award ® for Best Animated Short Film) and Designs by Patrick Hanenberger (Lego Movie 2, Rise Of the Guardians).
For the soundtrack, Paul McCartney is joined by Academy-Award and Golden Globe winner music composer Michael Giacchino (Ratatouille, Up, Inside Out, Coco) who will be working on the score, forming one of the most exciting musical duos ever brought to the big screen.
This animated film is produced by Paul McCartney (MPL Communications), Robert Shaye Unique Features) and by Sidonie Dumas, Christophe Riandee, Nicolas Atlan and Terry Kalagian for Gaumont.
Paul McCartney – Producer, writer, and composer: “I am very excited to fly High In The Clouds with Gaumont and to team up with our stupendous creative team.”
Sidonie Dumas – CEO of Gaumont: “We are thrilled to bring the vision of Paul McCartney to the big screen. This is a great opportunity for Gaumont, our animation team and independent distributors to work on a timeless animated movie for the whole family.”
