On July 7, OSS 117 appeared on the Champs-Elysées !
And no, the most beautiful avenue on Earth wasn’t chosen for the spy’s newest on-screen adventure—you’ll have to wait a little longer for that one like we said recently—but the experience was a thrill for viewers all the same:
On Sunday July 7, more than 1750 lucky people were able to enjoy an exceptional screening of OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies with Jean Dujardin and Aure Atika in attendance.

This marks the second year that Gaumont, the City of Paris and the CNC have invited people to the Champs Elysées for “Un dimanche au cinéma” (Sunday at the Cinema). Following on from The Visitors in 2018, OSS 117 was screened in front of more than 1750 deckchairs arranged near the Arc de Triomphe, on a 144 m² screen. Nothing is too big for a screening like this one.

The 1750 lucky viewers were selected from around 13,000 who had taken part in a contest to watch the comedy—directed by Michel Hazanavicius and released 2006—on the Champs Elysées, where they received a small free tub of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Prior to the event, the City of Paris launched a poll to determine which of these three feature-long films should be selected:
– The Young Girls of Rochefort, by Jacques Demy (1967)
– That Man from Rio, by Philippe de Broca (1964)
– OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies, by Michel Hazanavicius (2006)
The results of the vote show, once more, just how attached the public are to the world’s goofiest secret agent.
