Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, coming soon to Netflix!

,

Netflix and Gaumont are thrilled to announce the new animated series, Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, adapted from the Usagi Yojimbo comic book created by Stan Sakai, which has been a global success for 35 years.

Usagi Yojimbo, the comic book series created in 1984 by Stan Sakai, has been adapted into a series produced by Gaumont, Dark Horse Entertainment (Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg and Chris Tongue) and Atomic Monster (James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett).

“The series takes place in the far future, set in a world that mixes modern high-tech images with classic Japanese references. It follows the teenage Rabbit Samurai Yuichi, descendant of the great warrior Miyamoto Usagi, on his epic quest to become a true samurai. But he isn't alone! He leads a ragtag team of misfit heroes including a roguish bounty hunter, a cunning ninja, an acrobatic pickpocket and a faithful pet lizard as he battles all kinds of enemies and monsters from another dimension.  “

The team that worked on this project includes: Director Ben Jones, known for his work on animations like Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teen Titans, and Art Director Khang Le, known for his work on Big Hero 6 and Little Big Awesome. 88 Pictures was chosen as the CGI animation studio.

Unsurprisingly, Stan Sakai oversaw the project himself, saying: “I am involved in each step of the production and am enthusiastic with the direction we are going into. It is wonderful to expand the Usagi universe by collaborating with so many talented people.”

We just have to wait just a little longer for the release date and first few episodes. Keep an eye on our socials so you don't miss a thing!
