Le Niragongo
Release date 1976 Documentary . 45 min
In 1947, Haroun Tazieff, a young geological engineer in the tin mines of what was then the Belgian Congo, gasped before the spectacle of molten lava. It was the only permanent lava lake in fusion known at that time and he was the first to see it. That first excitement has never died.
As spectacular as still photos are -and Tazieff's illustrated books have enjoyed a wide success- they cannot compare to the power and force of film. The most apathetic viewer is at the same time amazed and fascinated by this spectacular film.
