Jules, a shepherd in Provence, lives alone on the high plateaus. Fine, a young widow who lives in the valley, comes occasionally to spend the night with him, when he so desires. One day he finds two cubic meters of banknotes at a bend in the road. Terrified, he has no idea what to do with all that money. Jules throws a huge banquet for the villagers, which also arouses the greed and jealousy of his guests.
