The time-the turn of the Century. The place-somewhere in Central America. Maria I (Jeanne Moreau) is a dancer with a travelling show. Maria II (Brigitte Bardot), accidental inventress of the strip-tease, has been forced to flee from her native Ireland where her father was a revolutionary. Chance engineers a meeting with Flores (George Hamilton) leader of the local revolution. Predictably both girls fall for his manifest charms. Allied against the revolutionaries are the forces of the evil president and his brutal sidekick. When Flores is killed in mysterious circumstances, the girls take over the revolution and become the darlings of the people. Viva Maria is a feast of pure entertainment.
